Abstract

Aneurysms of the extracranial vertebral artery are a rare disease, occurring in no more than 0.5% of all aneurysms. The review presents literature data on the frequency, etiology, clinical manifestations, and diagnosis of this disease. A large ture and a small number of published observations lead to the absence of clearly developed treatment tactics for this group of patients. Due to the small number of observations, large studies have not been conducted and it is impossible to draw conclusions on the long-term results of treatment in patients with aneurysms of the extracranial vertebral arteries. The main treatment method for this pathology is surgery. The work presents all known modern surgical techniques, both endovascular and open. The analyzed literature reports immediate favorable treatment outcomes and only in isolated longterm follow-up periods for specific patients with an average period of no more than 5 years.
