Abstract

Myocardial systolic and diastolic velocities and amplitude measured with pulse-wave tissue Doppler echocardiography and M-mode echocardiography, respectively, provide quantitative information on segmental function of the left ventricle. In the current study we evaluated diagnostic potential of left ventricular longitudinal systolic function estimation based on the velocity and amplitude of fibrous ring of mitral valve. Study group consisted of 38 male patients with documented coronary artery disease (CAD) and 20 healthy subjects without myocardial ischemia by both non-invasive and invasive testing. In conclusion, M-mode amplitude of the mitral ring in control group varies from 1,5 to 1,7 cm and systolic velocity - from 8,4 to 10,7 cm/sec. following exercise stress-test all parameters tend to increase by 1,5-1,8 showing strong correlation with left ventricular ejection fraction (r = 0,31, 0,75).
