Abstract

Using the method of somatosensory evoked potentials before surgical repairs on brachiocephalic arteries (BCA), we examined 219 patients from 31 to 82 years old including 109 patients with asymptomatic clinical course of chronic cerebral circulation failure. 110 patients had symptomatic clinical course of chronic cerebral circulation failure. In 123 patients chronic cerebral circulation failure was seen due to the BCA total stenosis up to 40%, 96 patients had 40% and more. The results of the study showed that acute changes of somatosensory evoked potentials are observed on the side of maximum BCA changes. As for asymptomatic clinical course of chronic cerebral circulation failure, typical changes of somatosensory evoked potentials are also observed what proves additionally the advantage of surgical treatment in such category of patients.
