Abstract

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) was used for investigation of venous blood. Blood probes were taken in the hemotransfusion station. EPR spectra of blood containing usually registered signals from methemoglobin, transferrin, ceruloplasmin and free radicals for given selection were observed only for 30% of donors. For 70% of blood donors along with known lines the additional ones identified as a signal from histidine hemichrome were also found. As histidine hemichromes appear in blood at strong intoxications EPR can be used for express diagnostics of donors status at the point of blood sampling. Statistical processing of EPR spectra with the subsequent approximation of the relative distribution of donors vs. the concentration of the paramagnetic centers in blood by Gauss function was made. The permissible intervals of paramagnetic centers concentration in norm were defined, the deviation from which showing the presence of pathological changes in human beings. At the given selection the elevated level of methemoglobin and ceruloplasmin was found for 15% and 10%, correspondingly and the lowered level of transferrin was revealed for 35% of donors.
