Abstract

The analysis and evaluation of ventricles and atria in right and left cavities was performed using original authors method which allowed to reveal definite relationship in ratio changes of these cavities and to mark them as volume remodeling index (VRI). The observed group included 105 patients with mean age of 51.2 ± 24.5 years with acquired mitral valve defects. We analyzed their structural-geometrical parameters of heart cavities, volumes and the rates in different pre- and postoperative periods. Statistically significant difference (p<0.05) of VRI was revealed with rate of evidence of heart cavity pathologic remodeling and their capacity for recovery in long-term period after operation.
