Abstract

Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass often involves both bleeding and thrombosis, these being the possible caus- es of different complications in postoperative period. Apart surgical causes bleeding can also occur when cellular and plasma hemostasis components are damaged. Early diagnosis of imbalance in hemostasis system is very important for corrections of complications in operative and postoperative periods. High-tech blood analyzers of the latest generation are used in the clinical laboratory diagnostics division of Bakoulev NMRCCS. Center specialists assessed safety and effec- tiveness of recombinant coagulation factors of various age group patients, including infants in the first year of life. They also carried out studies on diagnostics and correction of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia and disseminated intravas- cular coagulation syndrome. The experience and diagnostic algorithms developed in cooperation with clinicians in the Bakoulev NMRCCS can be recommended for surgical facilities.
