Abstract

The review presents the basics of the anatomical structure, hysiology and function of the right ventricle. The coordination and interdependence of the right and left ventricles is emphasized. The size, shape, pressure and volume of one ventricle directly mechanicaly impact on the same parameters of the other ventricle. The interventricular septum, pericardium and interventricular muscle continuity are the main anatomical components that determine the dependence of the ventricles on each other. Systolic ventricular correlation is determined mainly by a movement of the interventricular septum.The article discusses the main etiological factors and pathogenetic mechanisms of the development of right ventricular failure. Depending on the etiopathogenetic factors, types of remodeling of the right ventricle in presence of the right ventricular failure are described.

Moreover contains the methods of complex echocardiography, which are used to assess the anatomical parameters and function of the right ventricle. The possibilities of three-dimensional echocardiography, methods for assessing systolic and diastolic functions, modern technologies characterizing the processes of deformation and deformation rate of the myocardium of the right ventricle are shown.
