Abstract

The article analyzes the results of coronary artery bypass surgery in elderly and senile patients with concomitant damage of brachiocephalic arteries. It is shown that this group of patients has an increased risk of neurological complications in the postoperative period (in particular, strokes) and a higher mortality rate. The reasons for this phenomenon are still debatable. The authors also consider different approaches to myocardial revascularization in older age groups with damage of brachiocephalic arteries and conclude that the published data are contradictory.
