Abstract

Objective. Creation of sponge’s form local dressings based on sodium alginate with nanoparticles of iron oxides integration. Assessment of hemostatic activity of created dressings in vivo and in vitro.

Material and methods. For the production of the investigated dressings solutions of sodium alginate were used. The mixtures of ultradispersed powders of micro and nanoparticles of iron oxides in various phase were added to the solutions. Hemostatic activity was determined by measuring of the time to stop bleeding and blood loss. The effect of the interaction of the contact surface sponge’s form dressings with blood was assessed by the counting the number of platelets, determining the level of fibrinogen, indicators of thromboelastometry and thrombin generation test.

Results. Sponge’s form dressings based on 2,0% sodium alginate solutions with iron oxide nanoparticles integrated have high hemostatic activity, enhance the reaction of the primary clot’s formation and enhance the thrombin generation reaction. The dependence of hemostatic activity on the polymer concentration, quantitative composition of nanoparticles and distribution of nanoparticles in the structure of the samples was revealed.

Conclusion. Analysis of the hemostatic properties of local wound dressings in the form of a sponge based on sodium alginate solutions in vivo and in vitro showed that the addition of a mixture of ultradispersed powders of micro- and nanoparticles of iron oxides with the prevalence of the epsilon phase led to an increase in the hemostatic properties of the dressings.
