Abstract

The most common abnormalities of aortic arch associated with vascular ring are the double aortic arch and the right aortic arch with an aberrant left subclavian artery. The accidence of these two congenital anomalies account for more than 85% of all cases of vascular rings. Other anomalies associated with vascular ring or loop are much less common. According to the literature, 12.4% of patients with vascular rings have concomitant congenital heart diseases. The article describes a case of successful surgical treatment of a 14-year-old patient with a vascular ring formed by the right aortic arch, an aberrant left subclavian artery extending from the Kommerell’s diverticulum, and a left arterial ligament. The vascular ring was successfully divided by resection of the left arterial ligament, the aortic arch segment in the area of the aortic diverticulum was cut out, followed by end-to-end anastomosis and implantation of the left subclavian artery into the left common carotid artery
