Abstract

The review article highlights possible predictors of shunt dysfunction at different times after surgical revascularization of the left ventricular myocardium and methods for improving the quality of their prevention. Dysfunction of venous shunts in the early postoperative period is primarily explained by acute thrombosis, usually at the site of the anastomosis, defects in the conduit body, as well as a discrepancy between the size of the conduit and the target vessel, which leads to a slowdown in blood flow and, again, thrombosis. Problems of venous shunts are especially noticeable in operations on a beating heart, which is associated with the need to work on a beating heart and with a small compromise of the coagulation system. The solution to problems with venous shunts is intraoperative patency control and aggressive anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy. The review presents current data on various methods of intraoperative control of graft patency and their importance in improving the immediate and long-term results of coronary bypass grafting.
