Abstract

The aim of the study is the analysis of the changes in quality of life after open heart valve surgery in patients aged > 65 years. Patients quality life scores were measured using 36-Item Health Survey. We studied 189 patients who underwent open heart valve surgery. The comparative analysis of initial and postoperative quality of life status showed overall improvement in most domains of the SF-36, including the physical and mental component summary scores (p<0,05) after cardiac valve surgery.
