Abstract

Muscular counterpulsation (MCP) is one possible way of circulation regulation, by means of a cardiomimetic pulsation of skeletal muscles caused by electromyostimulation, cardio-synchronized in the diastole. There were 16 healthy young men investigated who underwent a 10-days MCP treatment. Short tetanizing trains of impulses (train duration 100 ms, pulse frequency 400 Hz, amplitude 25-30 V) were ECG-triggered after the end of the Т-wave. The length of the daily MCP session was 20 minutes. Integral rheography data recording and mathematical analysis of the heart rate was carried out before (BL) and after (Post MCP) the MCP treatment, for a postural test. Key parameters of integral rheography, before and after MCP treatment, and as a consequence, the essential influence on hemodynamic parameters: significant reduction, for both, after load (MAP) and power of the left heart contractions (NL). Thus, the efficiency of the left ventricle (SI/LVSWI) significantly increases. Furthermore, the data for individual volunteers after MCP treatment are in a range considered autonomous comfort values, whereas the BL values are widely spread in two clusters concentrated on the extremes. Such a tendency has become apparent with the majority of analyzed parameters and thus this is being called a «concentration phenomena»
