Abstract

The aim of this study was to conduct comparative analysis for basic and postoperative structure-geometrical parameters of heart cavities in patients with mitral valve defects who underwent radical defect repair using implantation of prostheses. Obtained data was interpreted depending on initial geometry of cavities and result of surgical treatment in patients who successfully underwent mitral valve replacement. We analyzed initial and postoperative data of 64 patients with mitral valve defects. All patients underwent surgical repair of the defect using mechanical prostheses implantation in 84,4% cases and biological prostheses implantation in 15,6% cases. In early postoperative period all the patients had significant reduction in both atria, left ventricle cavity and in forced part of right ventricle (p<0,01). Ventricular geometric parameters before and after correction were estimated using traditional rates and such rare rates as square change fraction, conicity index, eccentricity index which had significant confidence (p<0,05) and allowed to analyze the degree and localization of remodeling processes.
