Abstract

We studied the tissue stress value in systole in natural mitral valve and bioprostheses. Using the data obtained by measurements of normal anatomic preparations, echocardiographic and technical data, we could make models for normal valve and mitral bioprosthesis. To calculate the models we applied finite-element method. We came to conclusion that arcuate fibrous ring helps reduce leaflet stress approximately by 50% whereas framed bioprosthesis in mitral position does not have such features, that is why his leaflets in systole are more than double stressed
