Abstract

The objective of this research is to study reactivity of the cerebral vessels on metabolic stimuli in exsyncopic period in children and adolescents with neurocardiogenic syncopes (NCS). The research included 87 children and adolescents aged 14,6±2,3 years with NCS in the anamnesis. Baseline average linear blood flow record in the medial cerebral artery, average linear blood flow record following hypercapnic and hypocapnic stress with computation of conventional coefficients was performed to study reactivity of cerebral vessels on metabolic stimuli. Predisposition to cerebral vessels hyperconstriction was noted during the hyperventilation test in children with NCS whereas hypoventilation test in this cohort of children revealed vasodilation reserve incompetence in response to hypercapnia. These changes may be one of the pathophysiological conditions facilitating implementation of syncopic readiness in impaired persons.
