Abstract

The article has reported advantages and possible shortcomings as well as potential difficulties in realization of a new for diagnostic practice the method of the occlusion plethysmography based on the technology of machine vision. The principle of the plethysmograph operation is analogous to that of the mechanical occlusion plethysmograph with the only difference that working measuring surroundings (gas or fluid) is replaced with laser marks and the chart recording of the volume change is produced by machine vision with the further computer processing. Such approach shall considerably widen the field of application of the occlusion plethysmography, increase the accuracy and make the procedure more comfortable for a patient.
