Abstract

Damage to large main vessels is very life-threatening. The causes of their occurrence are diverse and include both complicated atherosclerotic processes and infectious aorto-arteritis of specific etiology, as well as traumatic injuries. The most common cause of rupture of the vessel wall may be the presence of a wall defect in the area of an atheromatous ulcer. In the case of spontaneous rupture of the artery wall of the aorto-femoral segment, most patients die in the near future and the diagnosis is established only by pathoanatomic examination. In some cases, subclinical false aneurysms are detected accidentally during ultrasound examinations. Intensive development of endovascular methods and orthopedic operations contributes to the appearance of iatrogenic, i.e., doctor-induced (medical manipulations) complications (bleeding, thrombosis, pulsating hematomas, spasms, arteriovenous fistulas, dissections etc.). Due to the fact that such diseases are rarely diagnosed at the curable stage, we present three clinical observations in patients who received such complications in the Department of vascular surgery with a description of the possibilities of ultrasound diagnostics in compliance with the correct methodology and methodology.
