Abstract

We performed a study of 34 anatomic specimens of normal mitral valve from patients at the age of 35- 50 years with non-heart related death. The analysis of structures, size of papillary muscles and distribution of outgoing cords showed that the results of this work can be applied for prediction of possibility and success for such procedures as mitral valve cord replacement, papillary muscle head reimplantation, mitral valve replacement with cryopreserved mitral homograft. According to these data, it is possible to make an ideal scheme of mitral valve which helps to estimate its loads.
