Abstract

The article describes the results of CFD-modeling of steady flow through mechanical heart valve prostheses in an anatomical-like channel in aortic position. The comparative studies of effective orifice area and of hydrodynamic efficiency were carried out for different types of heart valve prostheses. The article shows that the new trileaflet prosthesis CorBeat (designed by Bakulev Center for Cardiovascular Surgery) is 15-20% more efficient than modern bileaflet valves
