Abstract

Objective – to investigate the prognostic significance of the complex clinical and demographic factors and tools to develop models of the early differential diagnosis kind of stroke.

Material and methods . The study included 124 patients with stroke. Everyone was standardized clinical and instrumental examined with the use of neuroimaging, ultrasound scanning brachiocephalic and intracranial arteries and venous structures with arteriovenous ratio calculation index of cerebral blood flow. To assess neurological status of patients some rating scales were used, including a visual analog scale to determine the severity of the headache.

Results . The most predictive value had such indicators as parameter of ultrasound arteriovenous ratio of cerebral blood flow and the value of headache’s visual analogue scale. A model was developed differential diagnosis kind of strokes has high specificity and sensitivity.

Conclusion . Allocated significant criteria of differential diagnosis of arterial and venous genesis ischemic stroke: an increase of headaches visual analog scale means to 4 points and above, as well as the achievement brachiocephalic arteriovenous blood flow ratio index to 50% or less are signs of venous stroke associated with cerebral venous sinusthrombosis. These simple, safety and cost-effective methods are easily repeatable and do not require too much time.
